MDM CommunityTheme: Traction by The Theme Foundry

Dan,
I happened to read a blog written by Tim Sullivan (http://blog.hubdesigns.com/2008/02/27/metadata-and-mdm/) and was impressed by the thought leadership. I had tried leaving a comment to his blog but failed.
Let me refer to this article and add couple of observations around it. Recently I happened to work on evaluation of an Analytical MDM for clinical data trial domain. The basic aim was to first arrive at a centralized Meta data management solution, to drive the Master data management process. It was an eye-opener.
The concept of using Part Number or SKU based meta data information in a Product management MDM seems unique. This was conceived by Tim Sullivan from Hub Solution Design . Was this conceived as part of a “Go to market” strategy for a retailer? Has there been a business case built around using metadata driven MDM in retailing space? We could see more traction between Meta data driven MDM soon.
Thanks and regards
Jairaj
Hello,
I was wondering if you accept blog posts for your blog. If you do, I would like to submit a few. You can see a sample of my work at LaptopComputers.org under the author James Mowery. I’ve also written for several high-profile blogs like Mashable, Perfromancing, and CMSWire. Thank you for your time.

In Tim Sullivan’s blog (http://blog.hubdesigns.com/2008/02/27/metadata-and-mdm) he states:
The deployment strategies that most global corporations are following with Persistant style MDM hubs is to use federation across local persistent hubs rather than a single centralized hub in one location that must be accessed from all other locations for MDM data.
My question is whether there are any documented case studies for federated MDM hubs?
Thanks,
John
Hi John,
I’m looking into this for you. When I get some information for you, I’ll post it here on the Hub Designs Blog, most likely as a new blog article.
Hello again John,
Ravi Shankar from Informatica tells me that one of their large financial services clients has implemented their Informatica/Siperian hub in a federated implementation, similar to how Tim described it in his blog article.
Unfortunately, he can’t share the details publicly.
Best regards — Dan
