Information Builders sponsoring a new white paper and webinar with Hub Designs
Julie Hunt, editor of Hub Designs Magazine, and I recently collaborated with Information Builders, Inc. (IBI) on a new white paper called The 8 Worst Practices in Master Data Management and How to Avoid Them.
This one was a lot of fun to do. Julie’s style and mine mesh very well, and the topic was an interesting take-off on the best practices we usually recommend. Rather than just flip the best practices around into worst practices, we gave this one some thought, and came up with a list of the “seven deadly sins” (plus one) that master data management (MDM) initiatives need to be careful not to commit.
The road to a successful MDM program can be full of detours and dead ends. We’ve tried to identify the eight worst practices when planning and designing a MDM and data governance program, and show you how to get it right. The white paper is available as a free download (registration required) from Information Builders at http://bit.ly/ibi_whitepaper.
We’re also going to be conducting a joint webinar on those “8 Worst Practices” on Thursday, September 19, 2013, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm EDT (10:00 am – 11:00 am PDT).
If you launched your MDM initiative without an executive sponsor, if you skipped developing the business case in support of your program, or if your company doesn’t recognize how critical people, politics, and culture are to MDM success, learn how to “get it right” by understanding where things can go horribly wrong.
